Dr. Liaghat also reported on the implementation of smart irrigation projects at the University. He explained, "By employing sensors, meteorological data, satellite imagery, and AI-based decision support systems, we can determine the precise timing and amount of irrigation." He emphasized, "These technologies not only reduce water consumption but also alleviate plant stress and enhance production efficiency."

In conclusion, Dr. Liaghat highlighted that "water productivity"—minimizing consumption while maximizing output—is currently the foremost global indicator for addressing water scarcity. In line with this, a research core on water productivity has been activated at the University of Tehran, and nearly all theses in the Irrigation and Drainage Department are focused on improving water use efficiency.
